Meet the Artist

Hello, I am Robin Baratz.

I paint in my home studio and painting is one of my great joys. The moment I sign a painting actually feels anti-climactic. The joy lives in the process of getting there.

I paint what calls to me. It’s an instinctive, emotional attraction. I begin with a neutral, raw under layer and then slowly add color, texture, and depth in stages. Brushes and palette knives are my instruments and my friends in the process.

My work is realistic, honoring the authenticity of the scene, though I allow for artist’s license when the painting asks for it.

When I visit an art exhibit, I always play a quiet little game with myself: “If I could take only one painting home, which one would it be?”

Of course, I admire technique, but what truly stops me is the emotional connection. That moment when a painting doesn’t just impress you, it reaches you.

I paint in my home studio and painting is one of my great joys. Strangely enough, the moment I sign a painting never feels like the “big finish.” The joy lives in the journey. It lives in the slow build, the layering, the refining, and the process of getting there.

Because my studio is in my home, visits are by appointment only. When you come, you’ll find finished pieces decorating my walls, and others resting in neat rows along the studio floor. I’m always happy to hang pieces for a better look if you want a proper “let me see.”

There is nothing like seeing the true colors and textures in person, not on a screen, not in a catalog — but face-to-face with canvas.

Come visit. See what you connect with.

Maybe you’ll find the piece you’d want to take home.
